Hello and welcome to Driver-4.com, the first official fansite about Ubisoft Reflections' upcomming Driver game ! Check out our Driver 4 or Driver 5 article !
Difficult Times
Hello everyone.

It's been a long time since there was a news on this site. As you see, this site is not really what it used to be : Shoutbox doesn't work anymore, some of the sections don't work either, site is not very updated, board was closed, etc etc. I was planing to remake this site, already some months ago, I started and I left it. I didn't have much time, and the motivation was gone. Plus, one of our Team members went insane and made everything even harder for us, but don't worry - he got kicked ( Sorry mate.. ).
I would really like to remake this site, because it really needs to be redone, the problem is as always, time and motivation. Well, I might have found a solution. I will have lots of time in the summer holidays. As for the motivation... easy : I was surfing in the net, and searched for Driver The Recruit on Google.com. And see who's site appears at the top ! Well, this one ! ;-) That's a lot of motivation !

I just wanted to announce that I will switch my host soon, which means I will have more space, so that I can install the board again.

And here some pics of what I've made months ago :

Hope you like it, even if it's not finished yet !

Well, if you want to support & help us in any way, just drop us an e-mail at webmaster[at]driver-4[dot]com.

Cheers !

Official Title ?
Just announcing that the domain http://www.drivertherecruit.com ( dead link ) was registered by Ubisoft. Would that mean that Driver : The Recruit will be the official game title ?

Yeah, it seems like that.

If I had time I would care more about this site and all the Driver stuff, sorry for the late updates and the lack of activity, but I cannot do everything alone. I'm 16, I go to school, I have exams, I get webdesigner jobs, I'm DJ, and I also have a private life. As I said, I cannot do everything alone. Sorry.

DRIVER : THE RECRUIT
A new title has been given to the upcomming Driver game : Driver : The Recruit. However this may not be the final game title.

Check these links for more information :

It sounds like we will not play Tanner, and the easteregg in Driver : Parallel Lines was just for nothing.

Sounds like Reflections is going in the wrong direction again, sounds like a big disapointement to me. What a shame...

1 YEAR OF DRIVER-4.com !
Hey,

actually I don't really have much time to celebrate this, but since February 12th it's been a year that this site was reopened ( I restarted with everything on that date, and made the V1 of the site ). So far, we've had ( without counting the ones that have been deleted ) :

- 25 News
- Around 1600 posts in the Shoutbox
- 8 Posts in the Story Section
- 27 posts in the Vehicles Section
- 28 posts in the Locations Section
- 15 posts in the Characters Section
- 23 posts in the Wishlists Section
- 15 posts in the Music Section
- 6 posts in the Videos Section

You can't say it's not much because it's not like the sections here are forums, they're just here to post your wishes. For example the wishlists section has 23 posts, and each posts has like 50 wishes, at the end you come out with 1150 wishes so I wouldn't say there's no activity here !

Anyway, we're working on the V3 ( version 3 ) of the new site, which already looks very good, it will take a long time until it's finished but once it's released, everything should run perfectly !

Cheers !

Next Driver replaced by The Wheelman ?
Hello, Driver fans.

Recently, there were rumours around the internet that Midway's Wheelman could go to Ubisoft's hand. Also, the game could be rebranded as part of the Driver series. There some game retails like GameFly that have already changed the publisher to Ubisoft and changed the release date to TBD ( To Be Determined ). This seems to be a bad move by Midway, as they have recentely entered in bankrupt, and they're reorganizing themselves. And also, rebranding Wheelman as a part of the Driver series is an odd move, as these are different games developed by different studios. Even though both games have a similiar formula and the developer of both games are around the same area ( Newcastle upon Tyne, UK ).
Source

Oh and by the way : Happy Valentines-Day ! :)

EDIT : Anyway, it was told that The Wheelman would not replace Driver 4, so you can be happy, the only question that is left now is why will Ubisoft publish this game ? We think that the reason why they've done that is because Ubisoft would like to see how people react on this genre of games. And that will give them informations and help for Driver 4.

Will the next Driver game come out this year or not ?
Hello Driver fans,

Thanks to one of the members, we recieved some more news on incoming Ubisoft franchise games that are slated for release in fiscal year, 2009. As we all know, Ubisoft Reflections bought the rights to the Driver franchise ( Hoping they don't mess it up ), they are working hard on it. There may be a possibility that Driver will release some time this year, but this is not confirmed. Ubisoft did reveal four titles that will come out: Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Anno, and a new Ghost Recon title. These are part of seven titles that may come out ( these four are the only revealed titles ), but the site comes fourth to reveal that Driver 4 may be in the suspected 3 other titles. DRIVER-4.com : Looking for a new Team !
Hey everyone, please read this since it's very important.

We're currently working on a new version of this site, with more options, features, a new design, a new forum etc.. the site will be bigger, more powerfull, and we need to build a new staff team which will help keeping the site up.

The positions have been filled, thanks.

- The "spion" ( lol ), someone who will surf around the web, looking for news about the upcomming Driver game, about developpers, etc.. Found someone
- 2 moderators who will have to moderate the site AND the forum. That means they will have to check ALL new messages everyday, that have been posted on the forums, and all the ones that have been posted in the comments to news, articles, or in the different sections on the site. It's not easy, trust me, it's a lot of work, and you're responsible for everything you do. Found 2 moderators
- A co-admin who will have to work very closely together with me, who will have to help me for anything I need, and help me organising things like competitions etc.. Found someone !

You don't need any skills in coding sites or design, if you have some it's a plus of course. You will need to know how the admin panel from the site and the forum works, but that will be explained later.

If you're interested, then just send us an email at webmaster@driver-4.com ! I hope to hear something from you !

Cheers ;).

================

The positions have been filled, thanks for your appreciation.

Here is our new team :

Revs - Webmaster & Administrator
JZ3Racing - Co-Administrator
Nickin - "Spion", looking for news and stuff about Reflections, employees.. etc
SDG14 - Moderator
CarLuver69 - Moderator

Thanks.

Driver 4 / Driver 5 announced soon ?
Everywhere, everyone is talking about it : DRIVER 4 ( or Driver 5.. ) may be announced soon !

Or at least this is what the dutch site insidegamer.nl says. They said they heard about a contract between a game publicity society and Ubisoft Reflections, and that the game would come out on PC, XBOX360 and PS3 in 2009. The game would also come back to the roots.

Well, don't forget, these are just rumours..

New Jobs at Ubisoft Reflections
And again, Ubi Reflections is looking for system and online engineers. The fact that they're looking for online engineers probably means that Driver 4 will have an online mode, if it's not removed at the last minute, like for Driv3r and Driver : Parallel Lines.

Happy Halloween !
Hey everyone !

Happy Halloween !! It's October 31st 2008 !

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well anyway, Happy Halloween! And now get out of here and make the streets unsafe ! ( or at least the internet if you stay at home ! )

Fake or not : Next-Gen Driver on March 30th 2009 ?
True or not ? For the 3rd time now Amazon is announcing a release date for Driver 4 : March 30th 2009.
However, we don't trust them, and think it's fake, since they first announced it would be released at the end of 2007, then on March 7th 2008, and nothing hapenned.
Also, Ubisoft Reflections did not say it would be released on that date.

Everything we can say is wait & see ...

Ubisoft Reflections would hire 1000 developpers
Gareth Edmondson says Ubisoft would match investment in other territories, but only if Government stepped up.

Ubisoft Reflections studio head Gareth Edmondson has told Develop that Ubisoft would be happy to add an extra 1,000 members to its team in the North of England – echoing its activity in Montreal, Canada – if only the Government would support the UK games industry.

Edmondson, who is part of the Games Up campaign group lobbying for a tax break for games developers, told us: “Whenever I meet Lord Digby Jones, my line is ‘would you like to create 1,000 jobs in Newcastle?’ We’d love to be huge, but we’ve got a very limited number of vacancies, because other Ubisoft centres are more cost effective.”

Ubisoft’s Montreal base is one of the biggest single game development sites in the world, with over 1,600 developers at its large Quebec office. The Canadian team has plans in place to increase its staff headcount to 3,000 by 2013.

Ubisoft Montreal also recently expanded in the area by acquiring 80 person-strong visual effects house Hybride, behind films such as 300 and Sin City, as it looks to bring film effects knowledge into its game teams and also expand its game properties into the film and TV space.

Newcastle-based Reflections, meanwhile, has 110 staff all currently hard at work on the next Driver game.

“We have to outsource quite a lot of art, but we keep the core – the technology, the design, the innovation – in-house,” added Edmondson

“We’re safe as we are, but we’d love to have another 1,000 staff, to expand like Ubisoft Montreal. I mean, I love making games – at the moment, we have the resources to be working on one or two titles at a time, but I’d love to be able to work on more.”

Much of sister studio Montreal’s expansion comes with support from local government: Ubisoft works closely with Quebec authorities to achieve its ambitious plans for the studio. Government support has also been the catalyst behind the further development of Ubisoft’s Casablanca studio in North Africa, which is planning for another 150 staff in the coming years, and its establishment of a new studio in Singapore, which aims to host 300 people.

DRIVER 4/5 : PICTURES AND VIDEO !
Hello everybody !

Some time ago BBC has made an interview with Gareth Edmondson from Ubisoft Reflections, they were at their studio, and this is what you can see :

We can see are two cars and a part of a cutscene. Looks like they were no official car brands.

However at the beginning the guy from BBC says that they are working on a completey new version of this game, and is showing Driver : Parallel Lines on the screen. What does that mean ? Driver : Parallel Lines 2 ? It also seems like they would be 2 eras again : A green car from the 70s-80s is shown, and a red sports car from today. What can we say ? Wait and see ...

Enjoy !

UbiDays 2008 : disappointing
Well, Ubisoft’s 2008 Ubidays event has passed and unfortunately there were no announcements or unveilings of the next Driver game. Our focus now turns to E3 which will take place in July ‘08. After contacting Ubisoft, I have had further confirmation that Reflections is hard at work on the next installment of Driver and that great care is being taken to deliver the best product possible. The representative with whom I spoke identified the game as Driver 5 but that could have just been a generalization since Reflections them selves referred to it as Driver 4 when I made contact with them earlier.

With Driver-4.com now celebrating about 4 months online I have decided to take a new direction for both the site and forum. More information will be coming soon !

Ubisoft Reflections working on another videogame
Hello,

Ubisoft just announced that Ubisoft Barcelona and Ubisoft Reflections are currently working on a new game for WIi called Emergency Heroes. Now comes the question : "Is Ubisoft Reflections working on Driver or what ?!". Well, the official answer would be yes, because it has already been officially announced more times, but Driver 4 ( or 5 ) could be cancelled at any time. We all hope that this will not be the case, and hope to have a good Driver game in our hands soon.
