Interested in Driver-4.com's story ? Below is written everything about the site - from the first version to the last one.
Driver-4.com - About
In summer 2006, after I found the Driver 4 easteregg in Driver: Parallel Lines, I decided to open a site about the next Driver game. I thought it would be something original and special to make a website about a game that we aren't even sure of it's title. In february 2007 I started thinking of how I would do this. I had no idea how to make a website. So I started taking XHTML/HTML lessons in the internet. At the time, inserting an image or a link was so difficult for me ! I really started from zero ...
Then I coded the first version of Driver-4.com, there was no CSS, only XHTML.

I didn't told anybody of the site, and I just hoped that nobody would buy the domain Driver-4.com (I didn't own at that time). I was developping everything offline, on the new computer I got for my birthday. I was very proud of myself.
I always had a picture of how this website should and will look one day, and the site structure hasn't changed from February 2007. I knew exactly what I wanted and where it should be.
When I came to the limits of what you can do with HTML I didn't know what to do. Learn another language ? Yup ! So I decided to start learning CSS, and a friend at school had a book about it. I didn't read all 500 or 600 pages, but the most important things. The problem was that I still had problems, I didn't know where to put the CSS in the HTML. I was really a noob. The end of the school year was approaching and I didn't really care about Driver-4.com anymore. It was all too big and too difficult for me.

In Summer 2007 a guy came to me to install the internet in my room. We talked a lot and he told me that he owns a server and that he could host my site, a .com site like I needed it.
It took him a little while to arrange the domain. In September school started again, and I still had no domain ... School started on 5th September, and we were the fourth ... Then someone called at home, and who was it ? It was that guy who installed the internet here (I'm not going to mention his name, maybe he doesn't want it), he said my domain is ready !
He explained me how to upload files on the server, and how everything works. I didn't code for some months, I forgot so much, but I made a first page which said that the site is under construction (and this page was there for like ... uh ... 6 months ? lol ... ).

Like before the summer, nothing worked, I didn't know how to make the things I wanted to make ...
Then I discovered iWeb, which I owned but never used. I made the V2 of the site with iWeb, but iWeb was quite shitty (sorry !) - it converted even text to images and my site was slower than the lightest site on the web with dial-up.

Then for almost a month the server wasn't accessible. I couldn't change anything. And the V2 stayed there. I absolutely wanted to continue, so madness from drivermadness.net gave me a subdomain for free with some incredible 8GB of space (he's got 300GB, so no problem for him) !! I restarted working on the V3 of the site, which should be lighter, faster and have more options. I did it with iweb and replaced what I wanted to replace then to make it lighter. But the site was still too slow ...
Some days later the server was accessible and I could remove the Version 2 from it.

I was quite angry, nothing worked and I thought my site would never work (I forgot to mention it but the site never opened). And when I want something I GET IT. So I decided to take professional XHTML, CSS and PHP lessons. In less than a week I coded everything you see, the whole site. 1 Year of Driver-4.com - 1 week of Working.

I was getting better and better, and after a time a forgot about iWeb and coded everything by myself. I restarted everything in January 2008, then I opened a new version of the site and called it the V1 (Driver-4.com was reborn). And this, what you see here, is the V2 !

I hope you liked it !
