New Jobs at Ubisoft Reflections
And again, Ubi Reflections is looking for system and online engineers. The fact that they're looking for online engineers probably means that Driver 4 will have an online mode, if it's not removed at the last minute, like for Driv3r and Driver : Parallel Lines.

Hey everyone !

Happy Halloween !! It's October 31st 2008 !

I just made a special "Halloween Header" and wanted to use it for the site, just for today, but as usual something doesn't work with the server and I can't change it ! And I actually have to say that it really sucks ( OMG bad word :O not for kids under the age of 12 years ! lol jk ).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well anyway, Happy Halloween! And now get out of here and make the streets unsafe ! ( or at least the internet if you stay at home ! )

Cheers people !

Fake or not : Next-Gen Driver on March 30th 2009 ?
True or not ? For the 3rd time now Amazon is announcing a release date for Driver 4 : March 30th 2009.
However, we don't trust them, and think it's fake, since they first announced it would be released at the end of 2007, then on March 7th 2008, and nothing hapenned.
Also, Ubisoft Reflections did not say it would be released on that date.

Everything we can say is wait & see ...

Ubisoft Reflections would hire 1000 developpers
Gareth Edmondson says Ubisoft would match investment in other territories, but only if Government stepped up.

Ubisoft Reflections studio head Gareth Edmondson has told Develop that Ubisoft would be happy to add an extra 1,000 members to its team in the North of England – echoing its activity in Montreal, Canada – if only the Government would support the UK games industry.

Edmondson, who is part of the Games Up campaign group lobbying for a tax break for games developers, told us: “Whenever I meet Lord Digby Jones, my line is ‘would you like to create 1,000 jobs in Newcastle?’ We’d love to be huge, but we’ve got a very limited number of vacancies, because other Ubisoft centres are more cost effective.”

Ubisoft’s Montreal base is one of the biggest single game development sites in the world, with over 1,600 developers at its large Quebec office. The Canadian team has plans in place to increase its staff headcount to 3,000 by 2013.

Ubisoft Montreal also recently expanded in the area by acquiring 80 person-strong visual effects house Hybride, behind films such as 300 and Sin City, as it looks to bring film effects knowledge into its game teams and also expand its game properties into the film and TV space.

Newcastle-based Reflections, meanwhile, has 110 staff all currently hard at work on the next Driver game.

“We have to outsource quite a lot of art, but we keep the core – the technology, the design, the innovation – in-house,” added Edmondson

“We’re safe as we are, but we’d love to have another 1,000 staff, to expand like Ubisoft Montreal. I mean, I love making games – at the moment, we have the resources to be working on one or two titles at a time, but I’d love to be able to work on more.”

Much of sister studio Montreal’s expansion comes with support from local government: Ubisoft works closely with Quebec authorities to achieve its ambitious plans for the studio. Government support has also been the catalyst behind the further development of Ubisoft’s Casablanca studio in North Africa, which is planning for another 150 staff in the coming years, and its establishment of a new studio in Singapore, which aims to host 300 people.

DRIVER 4/5 : PICTURES AND VIDEO !
Hello everybody !

Some time ago BBC has made an interview with Gareth Edmondson from Ubisoft Reflections, they were at their studio, and this is what you can see :

We can see are two cars and a part of a cutscene. Looks like they were no official car brands.

However at the beginning the guy from BBC says that they are working on a completey new version of this game, and is showing Driver : Parallel Lines on the screen. What does that mean ? Driver : Parallel Lines 2 ? It also seems like they would be 2 eras again : A green car from the 70s-80s is shown, and a red sports car from today. What can we say ? Wait and see ...

Enjoy !

UbiDays 2008 : disappointing
Well, Ubisoft’s 2008 Ubidays event has passed and unfortunately there were no announcements or unveilings of the next Driver game. Our focus now turns to E3 which will take place in July ‘08. After contacting Ubisoft, I have had further confirmation that Reflections is hard at work on the next installment of Driver and that great care is being taken to deliver the best product possible. The representative with whom I spoke identified the game as Driver 5 but that could have just been a generalization since Reflections them selves referred to it as Driver 4 when I made contact with them earlier.

With Driver-4.com now celebrating about 4 months online I have decided to take a new direction for both the site and forum. More information will be coming soon !

Ubisoft Reflections working on another videogame
Hello,

Ubisoft just announced that Ubisoft Barcelona and Ubisoft Reflections are currently working on a new game for WIi called Emergency Heroes. Now comes the question : "Is Ubisoft Reflections working on Driver or what ?!". Well, the official answer would be yes, because it has already been officially announced more times, but Driver 4 ( or 5 ) could be cancelled at any time. We all hope that this will not be the case, and hope to have a good Driver game in our hands soon.

Driver 5 / 4 release date
A year ago Amazon said that Driver 4 ( Working Title ) will be released on March 7th 2008. But that didn't happen. So what have they done ? Well they've changed it now and the release date is November 30th 2008. That must be an employee playing with these kind of things, because no date has been announced by Ubisoft yet, so why would THEY ( Amazon ) know the release date of the game ?
However, don't trust this, it's wrong, it's fake, and the chances that the game will be called Driver 5 are 1 to 50 against the name Driver 4.

Ubisoft bought by EA ?
There are many chances that Electronic Arts will buy Ubisoft, everywhere magazines and people are talking about it. In 2004 EA acquired about 20% of Take2 Interactive and the domain eatake2.com has been registered. Now Electronic Arts has registered another domain, eaubisoft.com ( nothing there yet ). What does that mean ? Will Driver : Working Title be produced by EA Games ?

More comming soon.

Thanks to Driver-Welten.

Driver the movie !
Helloooooo ... !

I've just found a very interesting thing on IMDB : The movie Driver ( about the Driver series ) will come out in 2010. I couldn't read everything or even access the page because it was only for IMDBPro members, but this is what the Google resuts showed :

Driver (2010)
An undercover cop named Tanner posing as a getaway driver risks his life in order to infiltrate a crime ring based in four of America's biggest cities.

Sounds great.
I typed in Driver 2010 on Google and hoped to find out more but I didn't.

Online mode in the next Driver ?
Hi,

We found that Reflections Interactive was looking for Network programmers in October 2007, and as we know Driver 4/5 is the only game they're working on at the time. Would that mean that Driver: Working Title will have an online mode ? Or will they cancell it like for Driv3r and Driver Parallel Lines ? Let's hope that this online mode will be avaible for us all, and that there will be an online free roam mode !

( Source )

Okay let's recap :

August 2006 : Next-Gen Driver announced at the TGS 06.
February 2007 : Reflections found Storyboard artists.
October 2007 : Reflections was looking for Network programmers.

Looks good biggrin

Reflections lives !
Some days ago I've contacted an employee from Reflections and asked him some little questions.

He told me that he couldn't tell me anything because it would be against the rules.
However, I'm happy that we've heard something from the studio in Newcastle and that we know that they are still alive over there ! biggrin

DRIVER 4
Hi everybody !

I wrote this news to talk about the upcomming Driver game. I hope that when someone enters this site he won't leave it after 3 seconds because he thinks Driver 4 is Driver Parallel Lines and he don't care about DPL any more, he just wants new infos about the new Driver game. Well, this site is not about Driver Parallel Lines. And Driver 4 is not Driver Parallel Lines wink.

As you know the site has open some days ago, and the Driver 4 or 5 article hasn't been posted yet so we can't show it you. This article prooves why they are more chances that the next Driver game will be Driver 4.

Okay, so far so good. Now let's talk about the developpement of the game ? What do we know ? When will the game come out ? How far are they with the developpement ?

• In august 2006 Driver 4/5 has been officially announced by SONY ( exclusively for the PlayStation® 3 ) at the Tokyo Game Show.
• In february 2007 Reflections Interactive ( now Ubisoft Reflections ) were looking for Storyboard artists [ source ]

They said they were looking for storyboard artists for games being developped for PlayStation® 3 and XBOX 360 - and as we know, the only game they're working on is Driver. That could mean that Driver 4 will come out on 360 too.

If they started with the Storyboards a year ago, the game probably won't come out in 2008. And that's better so. Reflections should release Driver 4 in 2009, to celebrate 10 years of Driver.
